Many dams worldwide are decades old, posing a significant challenge: how can these critical bits of clean energy infrastructure continue to generate hydroelectricity while meeting increasing energy demand and undergoing essential upgrades? We visited BC Hydro`s 77-year-old John Hart Dam on Vancouver Island, where the team is implementing massive seismic upgrades to ensure the dam can withstand level 9 earthquakes and still operate safely.
