About the Author

Dr. William (Tim) Shaw - CISSP, C|EH, CPT, CAP. Over 40 years of industry experience designing and deploying DCS, SCADA and PLC based industrial control and automation systems in a range of industries including Electric power, Oil and Gas pipelines, Refining, Water and Waste-Water, Petrochemical, Steel, Glass, Pharmaceuticals, Wind Turbines and Substation Automation. He also helped develop the NRC`s cyber security program for domestic Nuclear Power plants. He is the Author of Computer Control of BATCH Processes , Cyber Security for SCADA Systems and co-author of Industrial Data Communications as well as a contributor to three other books. Shaw is a subject matter expert to the ISA (International Society for Automation) where he teaches several courses on Instrumentation and Control, Basics of process measurement, Industrial cyber security, Basic and Advanced telecommunications and Networking plus Database management for industrial automation systems. Shaw is a former Adjunct Assistant Professor of Computer Science in the graduate engineering department of Loyola University in Baltimore where he taught graduate-level courses in computer operating systems and networking. Shaw also taught on-line courses on BATCH process control and Industrial Cyber Security for the University of Kansas continuing education department. Shaw has authored dozens of articles on a wide range of technical topics. He was also the Contributing Editor for Security Topics to Electric Energy T & D Magazine.
