Construction The World`s Most Modern Hydroelectric Power Plant - Installed A $400 Million Generator. Kopswerk II is a pumped storage project. The gross head of the project is 818m. The penstock length is 1,200m. The penstock diameter is 3.8m. The project generated 614 GWh of electricity.
The construction of Kopswerk 2 began as planned in September 2004: blasting at three different locations provided access to the interior of the mountain, as the new power plant was built almost entirely underground. In total there were up to 1000 miners, builders.
