The Coastal Virginia Offshore Wind (CVOW) project is a pioneering initiative positioned off the Virginia Beach coast, symbolizing the United States` significant leap into wind energy. Spearheaded by Dominion Energy, a leading electric utility company, this ambitious venture marks a substantial stride in renewable energy development. Designed with a capacity of 2.6 gigawatts, the wind farm aims to power around 660,000 customers at peak output, employing cutting-edge offshore wind technology for reliable, sustainable, and carbon-free energy generation. Expected to be fully operational by 2026, the project is set to significantly reduce millions of tons of carbon dioxide emissions annually, aligning with global efforts to combat climate change.
