The Ouarzazate solar power plant, also known as Noor Power Station, is a remarkable example of how renewable energy can meet the growing demand for electricity in Morocco. With an installed capacity of 510 MW, it is the largest concentrated solar power (CSP) plant globally, covering an area of 2,500 hectares. The plant consists of four phases: Noor I, Noor II, Noor III, and the upcoming Noor IV. Noor I, completed in 2015, uses cylindro-parabolic mirrors to reflect sunlight onto a heat transfer fluid (HTF). The HTF generates steam, driving a turbine connected to a generator. Noor II, commissioned in 2018, employs larger mirrors and operates at a higher HTF temperature, with a greater molten salt storage capacity.
