Nuclear Power is an important part of many facets in society. Canada is a world leader in nuclear power generation technology. We travel to darlington nuclear plant to take a look at how it all works. CANDU reactors, SMRs and other technologies are some of the things we look at and discuss. A talk with a representative from Ontario Power Generation (OPG) about the nuclear industry and the darlington power plant. We discuss the refurbishment and construction of the plant and its technologies. As well as the trades and engineering involved in the industry and the increasing demand for new trades people. Specialized welding, pipefitting, boilermaking, and other trades are all essential to the plant. The facility also does research and development of new technologies such as Helium 3, Molybdenum 99 and other experimental isotopes. Helium 3 could be used as a fuel source for nuclear fusion someday and is not only found on the moon. We learn about the research and development of this technology.
