Liddell Power Station in the NSW Hunter Valley will switch off on April 28, 2023. After that, there’s a lot of work that needs to be done to demolish the coal-fired power plant. Seventy thousand tonnes of steel, more than the total weight of the steel works for the Sydney Harbour Bridge, will need to be removed and preparations will begin to herald the site into its next chapter as a renewable energy hub.
