In 2022, the Electricity System Operator of Bulgaria celebrates the 15th anniversary of becoming a separate state-owned company. For 15 years, the country’s independent electricity system operator has been operating and managing Bulgaria’s electricity transmission system responsibly and professionally. Incorporated in the year of Bulgaria’s accession to the European Union as a full member, Electricity System Operator has decisively taken a new path of development, guided by Bulgaria’s integration in the large European family. ESO EAD is the natural modern successor of High Voltage Grids enterprise of the National Electricity Company. In the very beginning of the year the enterprise was transformed and on 4 January 2007, Electricity System Operator was registered as a single-member company. Since then, in line with the European policies and in support of the country’s national interest, for 15 years ESO EAD and its team of experts have been committed to pursuing the company’s mission to ensure safe and continuous electricity supplies to all consumers. Electricity System Operator guarantees balanced and quality functioning of Bulgaria’s transmission system, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, all year long.
