The world`s largest offshore converter station, the "Heart of Offshore Wind," built by Shanghai Zhenhua Heavy Industries (ZPMC), has departed from Nantong, Jiangsu Province, and is now heading to the waters off Yangjiang, Guangdong, where it will enter the offshore installation phase.
The station is a core component of an offshore wind power flexible DC transmission project in Yangjiang, which has a total installed capacity of 2,000 megawatts - enough to power millions of homes for an entire year.
The project is expected to deliver about 7.7 billion kilowatt-hours of clean electricity annually once operational.
