Aug 7, 2026 - ITER tokamak core: two-thirds installed

Since April 2025, ITER assembly teams have been progressively installing the sector modules that form the heart of the tokamak. Each module combines some of the largest and most complex components ever manufactured for a fusion machine and must be positioned with millimetre precision. On 27–28 July 2026, the sixth sector module was lifted out of assembly tooling, transferred into the tokamak pit, and installed opposite the five modules already in place—bringing the machine`s plasma chamber to the two-thirds mark. This video takes you through the operation step by step. For a closer look at how the lift is monitored in real time, read the accompanying article
