Dec 24, 2025 - China`s north - south boundary Qinling Mountains welcome new energy Expressway



China`s first 750-kilovolt ultra-high-voltage transmission line running north–south across the Qinling Mountains has been completed and put into operation on Tuesday.
The Hanzhong 750-kV transmission and transformation project is a key initiative under the State Grid`s 14th Five-Year Plan.
It is also a key project that will integrate the southern Shaanxi grid into the main artery of China’s west-to-east power transmission program.
The line starts from the Baoji Converter Station in Fengxiang District, Baoji City, and connects to the newly built Hanzhong 750-kV Substation in Chenggu County, Hanzhong City.
Spanning 459 kilometers, the project successfully traverses uninhabited areas and heavy-ice zones of the Qinling Mountains.
Once operational, it will increase the power supply capacity of the Hanzhong grid by 25% and reduce carbon dioxide emissions by 15 million tons annually.
In the future, this power corridor will strengthen grid connections between southern Shaanxi, southern Gansu, Qinghai, and southwestern China, accelerating its integration into the national unified electricity market.
It will provide stable and reliable green energy support for the green revitalization of the Qinba Mountain region and high-quality development in Shaanxi.
